Wheat Free Recipes



The easiest way to adjust to the wheat free life is to keep a bunch of wheat free recipes on hand. Organization is the key to making it simple! Keep them where you can always grab them before going shopping, planning meals, or making lunch or dinner.

Make a section for each kind of meal, for snacks, and for “take along” dishes (stuff you would take to pot lucks or parties).

Tip: Bring at least one wheat free dish to parties with you, so you’ll always have something to eat!

Breakfast is easy when you’re wheat free, because you can always eat eggs, meats, and other things in skillet-type breakfasts. There are also several wheat free cereals easily available.

Lunches and dinners are harder to adjust to, however. We forget that many soups and prepared items have wheat in them. So, remember to check labels!

There are lots of books with wheat free recipes in them, but here are a couple to get you started. Burgers are always fun and popular, and they don’t have to be served on a bun to be good! Try having them wrapped in a corn tortilla, or simply on their own next to your favorite side dish.

Wheat Free Burgers

Mix one pound of lean ground beef with ¼ cup of corn meal and one Tablespoon of your favorite, wheat free spice mix. Mix well and form into four patties.

Cook on your grill or in a skillet until done to your preferred temperature. (Remember that undercooked ground meat may not be the best idea.)

Top with a slice of your favorite gourmet cheese and serve next to roasted potatoes and vegetables.

Stuffed Bell Peppers

3 peppers, sliced in half and cored
½ cup cooked rice
1 beaten egg
4 Tablespoons plain yogurt
6 slices very thinly sliced deli ham
6 mushrooms, chopped
4 ounces grated parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F). Arrange peppers in a baking dish, and spoon rice equally into each. Mix together egg and yogurt and spoon half the mixture equally into peppers. Top with ham slices and mushrooms, then the remaining egg and yogurt mixture. Cover with cheese. Bake for 35 minutes.
